Trying to Add Enemies Dropping Loot
After submitting the game, I decided to try and add one last feature of any good RPG: enemies dropping loot. Unfortunately, to do this I would have to re-write the Inventory code for shields as I had done for weapons. After working out the bugs (and copying what I had done yesterday), I got it working. However, as time was running out in the jam, I was unable to re-design the battle process so I could have the player earn loot. The way I had to do multiple screens to prevent button presses meant that the data I needed was stored elsewhere and I was unable to follow the logic of my sometimes spaghetti code to try and figure out where to place the battle result.
Oh well. At least I finished a full game completely coded in Microsoft Excel. I can be proud of that. Plus, if I ever do make an RPG game, I should probably use an actual game engine and save myself most of the heartache I experienced with this project. (I miss my enums and events in Unity!)
