What To Do When Game Jam Disappears

During January, as I was working on finishing up this game for a game jam submission, two things happened that were unexpected.  First, my family got ill for a couple weeks, which prevented me from having any time to work on the game given both me trying to recover and also time spent taking care of sick family members.  While I realized this would prevent me from submitting the game for the jam, when I went to see what others had submitted, it appears the jam itself was canceled; it is not clear why.

As a result, this game development was paused for a bit and now I am debating what to do with it.  Given I no longer have the requirement to only use third-party assets (though that wasn't admittedly that much of a constraint for a digital hoarder like myself), I am debating how I plan to continue with this game.  One option that is now open is to ask friends to record lines to add in for the people being rescued.  I also was planning on having a radar system so now I need to decide if I want to continue with trying to merge in a third-party radar asset or basically create my own as it does not need to be that complicated.

I have decided to make the game public as is and will continue to try and work on it; there are always jams for improving a project I can submit it for later on.  At the moment, the boat can move but there are are no people to rescue yet.
